Meet KARI
Kari Johnson hates writing about Kari Johnson. Kari does not have time to think about herself because she's a mom of two very loud children and one equally rambunctious golden retriever.
When not constantly feeding them, she sometimes takes time to sketch, paint, and doodle. Her focus is more abstract but she also enjoys painting landscapes, waves, tropical foliage and make believe fish.
She currently resides in Washington, learning about what it means to be a Pacific Northwesterner. A Midwestern native, she didn't experience the ocean until college, now a major focus of her art. She credits her love of art through her Grandmother who used to play with watercolors during weeklong vacations with her cousins. Kari has a degree in Art and Design from Iowa State University.
In her free time she likes folding endless amounts of laundry, vacuuming dog hair off the carpets, carting two kids back and forth from school, watching Bluey, baseball and making friendship bracelets. Oh wait, she's a mom! What's free time again?
Her dream is to pack the fam's 74 Volkswagon Bus with art supplies and drive around and paint. (Who's she fooling, she can't drive stick!)
Kari has spent the last few years as an advocate for the arts as a Snohomish County Arts Commissioner and a member of the Lake Stevens Arts & Parks Foundation.
